Hi there! I’m Mike Tierney, a Brooklyn-based, Grammy-nominated audio engineer and producer. I’ve worked with a wide range of groups and genres, pulling from my diverse taste and experience to bring a unique musicality to each project. Regardless of whether I’m producing or engineering, my goal is to highlight the emotions that I feel the song is trying to convey with a concise aesthetic.
I studied jazz composition and performance at Clark University and music technology at New York University. My background as a composer, arranger, and performer helps me to work naturally with musicians to help create an environment in which everyone feels comfortable and creative, while my technical expertise helps me to translate their aesthetic into a coherent recording. This bridging has helped me in developing my presence in New York’s music scenes, having worked with artists such as Medeski, Martin, & Wood, Judy Collins, Julia Wolfe, Pharaoh Sanders, Alarm Will Sound, Nels Cline, Ron Carter, So Percussion, Kenny Werner, and Joe Lovano.
I currently work from my Brooklyn studio and in studios throughout New York in mixing, recording, production, and mastering. I look forward to collaborating with you on your next project!
